Do More Iowa Hits the Ground Running with Furry Friends Refuge
Love animals, craft beer and amazing prizes? Wags 'n' Whiskers is the event for you! Here’s what you need to know about the Furry Friends Refuge and Do More Iowa’s event, Wags ‘n’ Whiskers.
Wags 'n' Whiskers is a silent auction event to be held on Oct. 27 at 7pm at Decades Event Center. There’s an array of items and experiences up for grabs, including an all-inclusive trip to Cancun! Enjoy a selection of food, wine and craft beer as local musician, Bruce Day provides live music throughout the night.

Furry Friends Refuge is the first nonprofit no-kill animal shelter in Des Moines. Along with providing stray animals a safe place to stay, they also provide services like neutering and spaying, adoption, community outreach and education programs.
One hundred percent of event proceeds will go directly towards caring for more than 200 animals currently in the care of Furry Friends Refugue.
So how does Do More Iowa fit in? Do More Iowa is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting other nonprofit organizations in planning successful fundraising events. Small nonprofits often don’t have the means or the event planning knowledge to successfully plan fundraising events to their fullest potential. So, Do More Iowa steps in and helps them out. Wags 'n' Whiskers is the first major fundraising event for Do More Iowa. This is their first time partnering with Furry Friends who have hosted this event for the past six years.
What goes into planning another organization's event? Several board members and multiple committees of dedicated volunteers. Do More Iowa handles everything for these events; including obtaining sponsorships and in-kind donations, securing silent auction baskets, setting up the venue, organizing volunteers, finding entertainment and food and much more.
